Being an accountant is a great career choice, but it’s not always easy to get this type of job. With the way the economy is, not all accountants can find jobs. When you’re in this field you will help people make good financial decisions. This could mean helping a couple save for a house. It could also mean helping someone get out of debt by going on a budget. There are a lot of ways financial advisors are used. Both businesses and everyday people use these professionals to help them make decisions based on their expertise. If you’re good with numbers, this is a great alternative to being an accountant. It can lead to opening a business if you get enough clients.

This is actually something that you can do if you have the right training. There is a need for accounting instructors within most colleges and universities. This is a great choice since you can teach what you already know! Passing teaching exams should be pretty easy if you know all the materials. This is a career choice that can truly use all of your skills. You will also be making a difference in the lives of others!

Financial Investigator – A financial investigator is another awesome career choice that is always in demand. With this type of career you will still be working with numbers. You will just be exploring crimes like tax evasion, welfare fraud and any other type of financial crimes. You will have to work with accounts, perform audits and recover assets. These have high rates of pay, so they are great choices! Criminal investigators can even get jobs with the government, which have great benefits. This might take a bit more training on your part, but that will be well worth it. This is a reliable career choice that is hot in any economy. If you are an expert you can go far with this career.

Purchasing Consultant – Purchasing for companies is another choice to consider. Purchasing for a large business requires a deep understanding of numbers and how to budget. You will have to buy raw materials and get good prices on them. You will also have to make sure a budget is kept so you don’t end up in debt. In addition to this, you will have to deal with contracts. Having an accounting background can mean really being able to progress in this type of career. All companies need purchasers if they sell goods to anyone. You could end up working for retail stores or even food companies. There are a lot of opportunities out there to choose from.

These a just a few alternative careers for accountants. All of these options are well worth considering. If you already have training you can go far with any of these careers! Just because you can’t find an accountant job doesn’t mean you’re out of a job all together.
