Here are some popular interview questions for employers to ask during job interviews.

Common Job Interview Questions and Answers

Why do you want to work here?

For this question, you need to do company research. Respond with your thoughts on the company’s reputation. Finish your answer by stating your belief in the company’s ability to provide you with a great work environment, which will encourage your best work.

What experience do you have for this job?

Here, the interviewer isn’t just looking for a competent employee. What they really want is someone who’ll contribute immediately to their current projects. If you’re not sure what projects you’ll be involved with during the first six months, ask. The answer you receive will allow you to answer the question more effectively.

How long would you stay with our company?

job interview questions and answersIf you’re asked this question, the interviewer may want to offer you the job. Put the ball back in the interviewer’s court, and have him or her sell you the job. Tell them that you don’t need to change jobs as long as you’re growing professionally. Then ask them how long you’d be challenged in the company.

What are your qualifications?

Among all of the job interview questions and answers this is an important one. It is all about how you can get the job done. First, you need to clarify the question. Is the interviewer asking about academic job qualifications, or job-related qualifications. If it’s the latter, ask about the problems that you’ll be working on before you answer. Once you find out what’s causing the manager the greatest concern, describe your skills and achievements which show that you can contribute to the solution to those problems.

How do you organize major projects?

You want to demonstrate effective planning, which involves both forward and backward thinking. Forward thinking asks, “Who and what do I need to complete the job?” Backward thinking asks, “If the project needs to be done by the 15th, what steps do I need to take and how much time do I need to complete it?”

How many hours per week do you need to get your work done?

There’s no single correct answer here. Some managers pride themselves in working long hours and on weekends. Others take pride in using their time management skills so that they don’t need to work longer than the normal office hours. Your answer should account for both styles. Say that you plan your schedule effectively to complete your work on time. Then also add that since your business has times where projects need to be rushed, you gladly put in the required time to get the job done.

There you have it! A list of common interview questions and answers. Prepare well for these questions, and you’ll be one step closer to getting the job!
